Diary was kept by Lorene Burns, wife of Sioux Falls lawyer and later judge Roy D. Burns. It seems that he gave to her a diary like this each Christmas and in this diary he wrote "Christmas 1928 For Lorene with Love from Roy David."
Inside the diary is a pressed flower, some of her other diaries also contain pressed flowers, but different types. She talks about shopping, tea parties, and other daily domestic issues.
